Primal Velocity

Primal Move Velocity is the running based section of PRIMAL MOVE. The primary objective of Primal Move Velocity is to teach and coach people about the importance of learning to sprint in the most efficient and graceful way possible. We believe that barefoot running and restoring the proper function of the human foot is essential to better body performance, sustainability and health.  Barefoot walking and running is natural and has been performed by humans for as long as we have roamed the earth. As with any human movement, barefoot running can be abused if proper coaching is not available. Apart from sprinting we also emphasize running at slower speeds for building your aerobic capacity and for recovery and regeneration.

As the human race becomes less active our ability to run fast and move well is diminishing. Sadly few people know the basic principles of running and furthermore do not possess the horsepower or skill to sprint. We believe SPRINTING is the ultimate expression of full body explosive power and is an essential skill for all sports as well as optimal orthopedic, neurologic and hormonal health. The ability to move your body fast has always been necessary to catch prey or to evade predators. Regardless of your age or fitness goal, we believe all humans must learn the art of running, with sprinting being the ultimate goal.

A Primal Move Velocity session consists of learning proper sprinting mechanics with a heavy emphasis on posture, arm and shoulder function and foot and hip position. Specific assessments and screens are utilized to pinpoint mobility and stability deficiencies. Sprinting and running should enhance your body function and more importantly your health therefore we teach a running progression that allows each person to SAFELY move from basic running drills to eventually sprinting at top speed. We also use many group and partner games that will naturally get you to sprint and be powerful. For balanced athleticism we teach change of direction drills, cutting, deceleration and jumping.
